She's Back!

Tonight our prayers were answered in that Penny was found safe and sound!

Apparently a neighbour found her curled up under a hedge on Thursday morning and took her in. What with him being an elderly farmer he's been looking after dogs all his life so she spent her time away sleeping in a barn being fed chicken and doggie treats!

When we got her back she was extremely happy to be home and loved the pampering we gave her. She was so so lucky not to get run over as his house is a fair distance from ours and across a main road.

It's amazing having her back and I just thought I'd let you know as well as thank you all for your positive words and prayers. It meant a lot!

My Heart Is Aching

It's amazing the difference 24 hours makes. Only last night I was enjoying a lovely night out in Belfast with Paul at Derren Brown's Svengali show only to come home and find out that my beloved dog Penny has run away.

We think the gate to the backyard was lying open all night and despite our best search efforts, she could be anywhere by now. Especially considering we're surrounded by a shitload of fields - something a dog would find hard to resist. We're going to search for her again later but we're seriously hoping she comes back when she's hungry.

I'm really upset about this as you can imagine and worried about her because she's deaf and at least 90 in dog years so even if she does make it back, the journey will probably kill her.

But hopefully she's a fighter...

Bowties are cool...

Paul is currently, as we speak, in Cardiff for the Doctor Who Convention happening this weekend. As well as enjoying the beautiful sunny weather and gorgeous scenery, he'll be finding out all the Doctor Who gossip, looking at props/costumes, listening to Stephen Moffat, going on a tour of the Tardis and getting a photograph with current Doctor, Matt Smith. How awesome is that?!

I'm just gutted that I couldn't go with him, what with uni work piled up to my ears and being a poor little student I couldn't afford to go. I'm just glad he could still enjoy it though!

Anybody still there?

Hey guys,

I've been an awful blogger lately I know, but blame the amount of uni work I've got and not me okay? I've been concentrating on that more than blogging this month but hopefully, if you can be patient, I'll have stuff to blog about it in the next few days or so. Then it'll be April and my A to Z posts will be published for you all to enjoy!

Thanks for sticking around...

Seriously?!

A while ago, the clothes store known as Peacocks went into adminstration. I was gutted because it was one of my favourite clothes stores. Now, I was given a £10 gift voucher for Peacocks at Christmas and before it shut for good, I decided to use it.

Unfortunately, they weren't taking gift vouchers anymore which sucked majorly. They told me to fill out a claim form online instead to see if they'd reimburse my voucher to get the £10 on it. So I did.

And I've only just heard back from them now and apparently, due to some legal reason plus the number of claims they got, they're saying that for a £10 voucher they're only paying out 7p!

That's ridiculous!!

Though some Peacocks stores have been saved, does that mean the voucher is not void anymore?

Just for Laughs...

Last night, Paul and I went to the local theatre in Derry to see Dara O'Briain. He's one of our favourite comedians and he didn't disappoint as he was hilarious! This was the second time we've seen him, the first being last year in Belfast and I thought I'd share a video of his stand-up to let you know why we love him so much.

Enjoy!

Attention!

I've noticed that the amount of comments I get on my posts have been dwindling lately. Is it because my posts for March have been mediocre? Repetitive? If so, then I apologise.

But you see, I've been putting more effort into my posts for April for that A to Z Challenge than my posts for March. I really like the posts I've written for it so far and can't wait to post them. It's just... I hope they don't suffer from this lack of attention. I don't think my self-esteem could take it!

Does that make me sound needy? Insecure?
Probably

Just hold out a little longer and posts with more effort in them will return!

The Grey: Review

WARNING: THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!

I watched this last night and it broke my heart.

Set in a remote city up north, I'm assuming near Alaska, Liam and a bunch of other men get on a plane to go home. Before all this, we see Liam have flashbacks of a woman lying in bed beside him. You get the impression that she's left him somehow and that this is the reason why he seems depressed. The plane then crashes and only seven of them survive it.

The course of the movie sees these survivers making their way south to find shelter and hopefully be rescued. However, each surviver is slowly picked off my illness and wolves. Now I love wolves but these were notorious and simply hunted these men out of badness. Luckily for the survivers, Liam is a wolf expert as it was his job to hunt them so he knows a few tricks to keep them at bay.

It doesn't work for long though as eventually Liam is the only surviver left after some pretty gruesome death scenes. After an epic scene where he shouts at God to earn his faith by interrupting and helping him, he continues on and ends up walking into the wolves' den. He's pretty much given up on life at this point and sits down and looks through the survivers wallets at their families pictures as well as more flashbacks of his wife. Turns out she's lying on a hospital bed so you assume she's died and thus that was why he was so depressed at the start of the movie.

The film ends just as he starts to fight the alpha with a knife and broken bottles strapped to his hands. I didn't really like this ending as I really wanted to know what happens. Cue an extra scene where you see the wolf barely breathing with Liam's head resting against it. Now either they're both dying after an epic fight or Liam is simply resting against it. More than likely, it's the former.

Despite all the death scenes the bit that broke my heart the most were the flashbacks to his wife. They just moved me to tears. If you watch this film you'll understand.

Highlights:
  • Romantic yet heartbreaking flashbacks to Liam's wife
  • The moving poem Liam recites
  • The epic line, "fuck faith, earn it"
Rating: 3/5

Can someone tell me if your hair is supposed to kink?
