I'm not really into sports but if I had to be an athlete then I'd want to be a gymnast. It just looks so beautiful and elegant!
Alas, this dream will remain just that. A dream. For you have to start at a really young age in order to be that flexible and unfortunately my days of touching my toes to my forehead are long gone. Also, since doing an eight week course of gymnastics every year at school, it became quite evident that I do not possess the elegance or the skill to be a gymnast.
I'm far too heavy and don't have the upper or lower body strength to fling myself around like they can. Plus jumping over the buck was way out of my capabilities...

I've always wanted to do gymnastics. It's funny, because I have been in dance all my life, and it would have been easy to just sign up for a class…but alas that never happened. Whenever there was a tumbling combination inserted into a dance…Lexie had to go off stage… :)
ReplyDeleteAww that's a shame, especially since I know you'd be so good at it what with being a dancer :)
DeleteI remember when I was told I was the perfect height to be a gymnast Suddenly it was my dream until they realised I couldn't do the monkey bars. Hum.
ReplyDeleteLol! I'm sorry, but that made me giggle! Though I'll let you in on a little secret, I couldn't do anything! And we only had a few apparatus!
DeleteThe gymnastic events is the only reason I watch the Olympics! Haha I wish I was a gymnast (actually I wish I was a lot of things) it looks so cool!
ReplyDeleteIt's the only thing I watch too!
DeleteFlexibility is something you can train. Just moving your borders by mere millimeters every time you do, and you'll be as flexible as them after a while!
ReplyDeleteStrength can be trained too. Really, if you want to be good at gymnastics, go for it. Worst case scenario is you get healthier and nothing else happens, so what have you got to lose? ;D
Despite all that, I say it would take a lot of will power and discipline that I haven't got lol!
DeleteIt is a shame that it seems to be a dream that will never be :( Some gymnasts can perform incredible feats though :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed they do, they are amazing to watch :)
DeleteIkr!
ReplyDeleteGymnastics looks so graceful and extremely elegant.
I always dreamt of being a ballet dancer. But I do not possess the body type or the dedication, I think.
Aww I'm sure you would have been great as a ballet dancer!
DeleteI agree on how elegant gymnasts look, though I've never wanted to be one. Now ballet, that I'd love haha
ReplyDeleteHaha ballet dancers are beautiful and elegant too. It's the whole standing on toes bit that puts me off it though!
DeleteI love gymnastics too! It's probably one of my favorite sports to watch at Olympic season. Sometimes it's almost unbelievable, the things they do! I think you also have to be pretty courageous. It must get pretty scary trying to learn a new flip when you know you might hurt yourself.
ReplyDeleteAww I agree completely. It really must be scary too!
DeleteI would be a terrible gymnast! I am not very...delicate in the way I do things and I am not flexible in the slightest!x
ReplyDeleteHaha I would be too! For the exact same reasons lol
DeleteI'd love to be a gymnast but I'm far too clumsy. Actually, Althea above put it perfectly. I'm just not delicate enough! I'd be like a little elephant in stretchy clothes, galloping around everywhere making a total mess of it!
ReplyDeleteNikki – inspire nordic
Haha well you wouldn't be the only elephant out there! I would be too!
DeleteAnd me!!x
DeleteLol!
DeleteYes, I have dreams that will never be realized...but that's okay. I know God made me who I am for a purpose. Enjoy the challenge, Hazel!

Thank you, I hope you enjoy it too!
DeleteI've always been tall (even as a kid) but for some reason my grandmother thought I'd be perfect for the uneven bars...she tried to talk me in to trying out for gymnastics but I was far more interested in other things.
ReplyDeleteI do love watching gymnastics though.
Aww it's a shame you never gave it a try though I never did things I was encouraged to do either lol!
DeleteI'd never make it as a gymnast either... it takes far too much dedication.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Yeah that's a problem for me as well! Happy Easter :)
DeleteI'm a frustrated gymnast too! It's actually the only sport aside from synchronized swimming that I look forward to every Olympics.
ReplyDeleteI love watching Gymnastics and the Diving. Those are the only sports I love to watch!
DeleteI always wanted to be an ice skater. Alas, never an ice rink around, and since I can barely ROLLER skate, I figure I'd be a disaster on ice skates. lol
ReplyDeleteAhh yes, ice-skating is beautiful too! Alas I've never tried it and doubt very much I could do it, seeing as I never tried rollar skating either lol!
Deleteinteresting G post
ReplyDeletedo check out my G at GAC a-z
Thank you!
DeleteI prefer sports that aren't judged because I hate when it gets all political. My sport is swimming and nobody can outfool the clock! That is a very graceful image of a gymnast though--I can see why you're enthralled. I'm way too tall and heavy to be a gymnast.
ReplyDeleteI never really thought about that but I don't really watch it for winners, I just enjoy watching them perform lol
DeleteI'm glad you enjoy swimming but I find that extremely boring to watch lol!
I'm the same as you, I'd love to be a gymnast because I think it's just amazing what they can do, but I'm not athletic at all, I'd just look silly if I tried! :)
ReplyDeleteAww yeah exactly, I'm not athletic at all either :(
DeleteHaha I would be a sucky gymnast too.
ReplyDeleteBut I agree with you, I've seen a few performances and all those elegant moves amaze me!
Aww I'm glad you agree!
Deletei don't know... but gymnastics seems like a girly sport and that's why i like it so much..^_^
ReplyDeletehave a nice day!
Yeah I don't really like watching the men's gymnastics - it isn't as elegant!
DeletePersonally I would never even try gymnastics - I'm too terrified!! But people who're able to use their bodies that way? Wow, just wow.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Unfortunately once I discovered that I was shit at it I didn't want to do it anymore either lol!
DeleteI dated a gymnast in high school. She never won a medal, but my goodness! her legs were elegant but made of steel rather than muscle.
ReplyDeleteLol yeah I'm sure her legs were incredibly toned and strong!
Delete8 weeks is hardly enough time to properly learn a new skill, much less something difficult like gymnastics.
ReplyDeleteI did gymnastics up until I turned 23. It's been really hard feeling my body lose its flexibility and my hips physically change so that they don't turn out as much.
It was fun, but honestly, watching it on the TV is much more fun, less stressful, and way more affordable. Gymnastics lessons are ridiculously expensive, and very few careers outside of the circus care if you can do a double back flip.
Aww I know it's not and it probably didn't show me all that Gymnastics had to offer but still, it did show me that I wasn't flexible or strong enough to do it.
DeleteAnd yeah, I can understand it being more fun to watch that do yourself!
I liked the CONVERSATION here so I made a link from my page on Facebook (gymnasticsbeauty)to this page .. I am sure many people will like this conversation........
ReplyDeleteOkay... but what conversation lol?
