For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own...
~ Albus Dumbledore
The dreams I have are always so weird yet wonderful. I've been chased by cybermen, unsuccessfully ran for my life from an axe wielding fireman, discovered that Victoria Beckham has chickens, been caught in a gun fight which only stopped when mice caught fire, watched a plane crash and burn after not being allowed on it, flew with multi-coloured unicorns and listened as Lord Voldemort killed a guy over speaker phone.
I know some of those sound quite tame but everything I described above has happened in one night! I am a very light sleeper so I'm constantly waking from one dream then falling into another. It's quite fun actually. Though of course some dreams are more awesome than others so typically those dreams are the shortest.
I've tried in the past to keep a Dream Journal but my dreams are so detailed it would take me ages to write them all down! I guess I'm just lucky in that I've been able to remember my dreams without one. So far anyway!

I have exactly the same dream-situation as you. I remember most of my dreams when I wake up and I seem to have many. They are so amazingly detailed as well, the rooms have furniture and decorations and ornaments and stuff, it's crazy. No wonder I'm always so sleepy :)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day, I'm following you now, you have a great blog :)

Aww yeah that's it exactly! It's amazing how much detail we can remember, isn't it? :)
DeleteAnd thank you!
I can't really remember many of my dreams, but the ones I do seem kind of weird.
ReplyDeleteThe weird ones are the best :)
DeleteI'm a huge dreamer as well, I normally dream several times a night and they're so vivid! I had a recurring one about a huge fish which attacked cruise boats and I'm forever dream cheating on Lee... xxxx
ReplyDeleteHaha! Poor Lee though those dreams are more common than you think!
DeleteI remember my dreams just as I wake up but when I try and explain them I can never make them sound quite as dramatic as they were when I was dreaming them! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I noticed that too, it's almost like a "you had to be there" situation lol!
DeleteThat sounds like one hell of a dream. Nice! I remember my dreams too. Lately I've been having wonderful ones, pretty much dreams in which I have anything my heart desires. Then I wake up and there's reality waiting for me. Not that reality is that bad, but my dreams are definitely better.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it was! But I've had loads more since writing this post a while ago! And those sound amazing, tis such a let down when you realise you were dreaming lol!
DeleteIt's so good to be able to remember your dreams! They just aren't quite the same when you put them down on paper.
ReplyDeleteLol yeah you're right! They're not the same :(
DeleteI never remember any dreams.....
ReplyDeleteAww that's a shame :(
DeleteI couldn't keep a dream journal. I have trouble describing my dreams. It is like it makes perfect sense in my head, but when I try to talk about what happened it makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean, like sometimes you know someone but they look like someone else yet they have all the same personality traits. Like I said, dreams can be weird lol!
DeleteI've been working on my dream recall again lately (want to get back into lucid dreaming, for the third time now (and yet to achieve major success)), and due to me thinking remembering dreams is important, I do occasionally wake up in the middle of the night, right after a dream. I did use the alarm clocks as a stepping stone though. One after 4.5 hours of sleep, then one every 1.5 hours. Works wonders for dream recall! (Though you don't need that, lucky!)
ReplyDeleteI really should have googled lucid dreaming before trying to answer this comment lol!
DeleteI hope your methods of dream recall work for you someday though!
Yeah, they're doing okay. Only recalled nothing during 1 night out of the last 14 or so, guess that's pretty good~
DeleteAww yeah that is good! :)
DeleteI have four to five dreams in one night and I don't wake up but they keep switched. Sometimes my dreams are so vivid that I forget that I'm sleeping other times I can hear myself thinking "lol this is just a dream" :P haven't had a good dream in so long though lately all my dreams have been awful :/
ReplyDeleteOnce I couldn't get into my house because the door was locked and I said, "this is my dream, I can do what I want" and I pushed the door and it opened! It felt awesome that I could manipulate the dream, even more so that I didn't wake up when I knew I was dreaming lol!
DeleteI'm sorry that you've been having horrible dreams lately, I hope they get better!
Hi Hazel
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blog - not surprising you've got so many awards. I love your writing style. I read so much more of your blog than any of the others I've visited so far on this Challenge.
I never remember my dreams, but fortunately I do wake up remembering what the story I was working on the night before has got up to overnight - then I have to rush and capture it before it flies away.
Looking forward to visiting you often.
Aww thank you so much, that is very flattering!
DeleteAnd yeah if you're writing a story then it's better to remember the future plotline instead of your dreams lol!
Dreams are great! I'm like you. I have such detail that I'd get lost trying to write it all down. I have a WIP that is about one fo my dreams tho. It's pretty cool, I think.
ReplyDeleteI agree! And that's awesome, look where Stephanie Meyer's dreams took her!
DeleteThat is a wild set of dreams to experience in a single night
ReplyDeleteIndeed it was!
DeleteHaha great post!
ReplyDeleteI'm a light sleeper too and have some very vivid dreams - like last night my house was being attacked by a T Rex and I was hiding under the guest bed with Patrick Stewart! :-S lol

Aww that actually sounds like an awesome dream lol! I was Angela Landsbury and I drove into the woods right into a wolf den lol!
DeleteBeen a long time since I dreamt of cybermen! Dreams are fascinating as they unfold, but always lose much in translation. I like it when I revisit a dream landscape- had a whole week of living in an amazing underground city, and several pleasant returns to a riverside property :-)
ReplyDeleteAww that's awesome that you can revisit old dream landscapes! I think I've only ever had one recurring dream, I'd love to go back into certain landscapes :)
DeleteI started a dream diary just to remember what wakes me up...
ReplyDeleteLol suppose that's as good a reason as any!
DeleteLove the Dumbledore quote. Awesome post and happy A-Z blogging.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote too! Thanks and same to you :)
Deletei've always felt we find our greatest inspiration from our dreams
ReplyDeleteVery true :)
DeleteI don't remember all of my dreams, but some of them. The worst nightmare I ever had still makes me cringe because it felt so real. I love the dreams where things are so weird that during the dream, I will conciously think "okay, that's so weird, HOW is that even real?" lol
ReplyDeleteHaha yeah I know what you mean, some dreams make me cringe too!
DeleteI'm a sucker for kitties so I had to click on your blog! (A to Z challenge). Like you, I'm also a vivid dreamer. Sometimes I try to gain a larger meaning from them, but usually I tend to think of it as a dumping ground for too much input from the day.
ReplyDeleteAww I'm glad the kitten attracted ya! And yeah, as much as we try and find meaning for our dreams, they're just a mish/mash of our day lol
DeleteWell.. Those are very fantastic dreams. Let's see, last night I dreamed that my parents turned my room into a den. So yea. You win.
ReplyDeleteHaha I have incredibly tame dreams too so don't worry :P
DeleteThose sound like interesting dreams.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I try to make myself fall back asleep so I can continue having the same dream, usually doesn't work :P
Lol yeah I've tried to do that too and it never works unfortunately :(
DeleteI rarely remember my dreams, I hate that.
ReplyDeleteI'd hate that too :(
